A trip to Ukraine (and a shortage of swag)

The Blockchain and Bitcoin Conference in Kiev, Ukraine.

After a quick flight from Amsterdam, I was smack in the middle of lovely Kiev, Ukraine, on my way to the Blockchain and Bitcoin Conference.

BTC.com was the silver sponsor of the conference, with our own demo area, where we discussed the industry with local bitcoin enthusiasts, professionals, and developers. The conference hall was jostling with activity and the three large conference halls—Rookie, Pro and Developer—were in full swing. Each of these halls was home to discussions based on different topics—Rookie was for those that were new to the industry, Pro for the business professional, and Developer for, well, the developers!

The presentations were mostly held in Ukrainian and Russian, with a few in English. A great (and extraordinarily useful) addition were headphones provided with live English translations of the presentations (thanks for that!). The presentations were very interesting, showing that the Ukraine—and Kiev in particular—has a passion for both bitcoin and blockchain technology.

With more than 600 attendees, the conference was the place to be if you were anyone in bitcoin. To attest to that (and to my amazement) the BTC.com “swag” we brought with us was gone in the first couple of hours. We’ll be sure to bring much more next time!

As a bitcoin company, BTC.com actively participates to help our industry move forward and gain momentum. One way we do this is by attending conferences such as this one. It is important for us to maintain an active industry presence not only by providing an excellent bitcoin wallet, mining pool, API, and block explorer, but also by contributing to the bitcoin community. The discussions, presentations, and networking made possible with this conference is a step in the right direction for bitcoin and the bitcoin community.

Our BTC.com keychains were gone fast!

A big thank you goes out to Smile Expo for the conference, Aleksandra for the live translation help, Bitmain Warranty, and the BTCkan!
